FXX Millechili

The static model of the FXX Millechili was made of plastic and cardboard, and was displayed together with the Formula 1 racing car and the FXX.

Compared to the "standard" FXX, the Ferrari Millechili ("1000 kg" in Italian) Concept has compact dimensions: the wheelbase is 93.7 inches (-10.6) and the external body features much shorter overhangs and V10 engine with 600 hps.Estimated selling prince is 500k USD.

During the event Ferrari has revealed the main aspects of its future product strategy, which will be mainly focused on higher performances by reducing the vehicle weight, and increasing the energy efficiency.

The goal is to achieve total weight savings of about 300 kg, with savings of about 110kg for the engine and 90 kg for the main vehicle construction.

Some aerodynamics technical details were also revealed, including innovative solutions that contribute to reduce the drag coefficient: active synthetic jets, passive blowing, management of internal flows and underbody active flow control.

The FXX Millechili Concept is a reaction to pressures to clamp down on fuel economy and emissions, especially in Europe and the US.

The future Ferrari will have a smaller capacity engine capable of runing on E80 bioethanol fuel. Transmissions will also be smaller and lighter. Also the aerodynamics will be modified. Ferrari is currently working with Imperial College London on an advanced active aerodynamics system that involves using air pumps to push air over and under the car.

All this changes will come starting 2017 probably.
